Meet the Photographer

Hi, I am Janine, a photographer from Somerset West, near Cape Town. I specialize in Content, Portrait, Food and Lifestyle photography.

I love telling stories with my photographs, every picture has a sense of honesty, integrity and emotion.

How the seed got planted ...

My dream was always to own my own camera and travel the world. This dream started when my uncle, an avid well traveled photographer, visited us on our farm in Limpopo. He would always walk around, his latest camera dangling around his neck, taking pictures of our family and the wild life on our game farm. This young farm girl was fascinated by what he did, but I had to wait until the next holiday to see the photo album, as this was way before the digital era. It was a long time to wait ... but exciting.

Watering the seed ...

I always loved telling stories. When I turned 27, I had the opportunity to travel to the UK for work. With my first salary, I bought a video camera.

Why ??? you would ask.

Well, it was easier for me to send a video back home of all the places I had seen and experienced, so that my family could hear my voice, feel my joy and in some small way also experience it with me.

About a year before my return to South Africa and while travelling in the U.S.A., I bought my first DSLR and that is when my journey started!

I took thousands of photographs, made thousands of mistakes, slowly building up the confidence to put myself out there and finally make a few hundred rand.

My confidence grew, my photography kit got bigger and better. I enrolled in a photography course and soon after I got my wings!

Oh and to answer your next question, yes I did get to travel the world. I have many albums of my own, but you will have to visit my social media pages to get a taste of where I have been.
